Omnipresent

Less of me and more of you Jesus (John 3:30.) This is what my heart is craving at the moment. I just can’t get enough of his presence! Thankfully he is with me wherever I go.

There is so much power in being alone with the Lord but there’s something about being at church, in community, that makes my heart sing. I mean I can’t help but see Jesus wherever I go. It’s a simple question of, are you looking? Do you see him? Over that coffee date with a friend, an encouraging conversation between workmates, that busker with amazing talent – HE IS EVERYWHERE. Wherever you go, his presence goes before you.

I love my church family. This morning we celebrated our children’s ministry, with the whole church worshipping to some child related songs. We danced among the bubbles floating through the air. It touched me. I mean isn’t this what our Father wants for us? To have a child-like faith! (Matthew 18:3) Sometimes it takes, just allowing yourself to BE. Be a kid! Have fun!

Spend some time with a child this week and you will learn how valuable it is to be vulnerable, you’ll see Jesus, you’ll realise that life is simple. And most of all, you will be left hungry for more.

“One of the greatest lessons that adults can learn from children is the enviable ability to find happiness with simplicity.” – Summer Jeirles

Solitude

There’s something powerful about being alone with your thoughts. I just spent a few days camping in Papamoa, right by the beach and by myself. It was the most peaceful, soul-filled holiday and I am super thankful for that.

One of my aspirations for this year is to live life simply and slowly, along with that has come basking in the presence of God. This holiday was exactly that and my heart is feeling it. I am overfilled with his love.

The majority of the three days were spent by myself, well just Jesus and I. This meant plenty of soul searching, reading, walking, writing and thinking. It was a time to reflect and regroup some thoughts and feelings, some good and some not so good, but I feel all the more better for it.

It really stuck out to me, how important these times are. Whether it be half n hour or so in the morning before the household wakes up or choosing to go for a lone walk instead of that coffee with a friend (don’t get me wrong fellowship with others is just as important.) I just really see that spending quality time with yourself is such an important step to self-love.

You are the most important person in your life, so it is worth treasuring your alone time and how you think about yourself. We are all connected to God, whether you have searched deep enough to believe that, that is true or not depends solely on your own growth. I have found the more I spend time with my Heavenly Father, the more I am in fact spending time with myself and getting to know who that person really is.

We are one with God. John 14:19-20 Because I live, you will also live. In that day you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you. So you can’t get to know him without getting to know yourself.

If there is one thing I can encourage you to do for this year, it would be to enrich your sole. Do all the inside work and connect with your heart.
